BOAT Institutional Management and Business Planning 2015

BOAT ( Bicton Overseas Agricultural Trust) was founded over twenty years ago by a group of Devon farmers who wanted to help those living in developing countries improve their livelihoods though better farming and increased food production.

Devon is a county in the South West of England, UK that is very rural and beautiful and home to Bicton College – an excellent agricultural college.

This is done by training the trainers at Bicton College.  The latest course is:

Institutional Management and Business Planning accredited by Plymouth University.

The next intake of students is May 2015 and applications need to be made by the end of the summer (September 2014 at the latest).  Students come from all over to participate in this exceptional course.  There have been students from:

  • Uganda
  • Kenya
  • Nigeria
  • Zambia
  • Gambia
  • Malawi
  • Mozambique
  • Tanzania

The course duration is 6 weeks and it is a very intensive program.  So far up to  2014, 49 students have successfully completed the course.  18 of these students were women (36%) so gender is no barrier to applying.  Most of the students are aged 40 something and hold senior positions within their organizations which can be private, NGO or Government.
